Pottering the paws

I did go out fer a while today thinking I'd be too late to see anyone but pottered over just on the off chance and there they were chatting away.

But the walking and talking tires a lemuure out a lot at the moment, that's what'll happen after weeks of bed and chair rest so it's time to sort the last medicines of the day out and get something to eat and then Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Well, off to sleep then up again. Just as well as I needed my goodnight medication. Goodnight lemuure here is ur medication. Usually I'd go to sleep about four hours after this in the hospital but tonight I've been to sleep and am up now getting my own medication and then'll go off to rest the head on the paws for the night.

I think I needed a rest before because I wasn't used to being on the poorly paw paws for long. Though the left poorly paw is a lot better than it was. The paws got the red dye soaks again and they really seem to like these and then afterwards the very poorly big toe was wrapped in a silver plaster. Well, two to start off with then one as the toe got smaller as the swelling went down.

Then we covered them with a sock.

But, I tell u in da hospital it was all lemuure have u done ur ointments and creams and taken all ur pillies. There are so many of them and I left with over a carrier bag of pills, potions and lotions. The pillies are very interesting .. most are white like the fizzy paracetamol but I also have red pills, orange pills, purple pills and light grape coloured pills.

Well, I guess the poorly paw paws won't be pottering very far for a while but maybe they should be pottering off to get some sleep now.

But before we potter off knowing there'll be no more pottering down the highways fer now some nice person gave a whole collection of model bikes and scooters to the League of Friends shop near Nicholas Ward. I bought a couple to keep on my locker and someone else bought all the others. Every single bike and scooter went and raised money fer the hospital.

Just a quick note

I've finally left the sleeping in part of the hospital though I'm to go back next week as an out patient. I was in Nicholas Ward .. and, yes, I almost typed St Nicholas there. It was all very comforting especially as we had lots of lovely tulips growing outside. We'd a great view and when I left there were bushes of dog roses coming into flower for people to look at.

I'll miss people though some of us are staying in touch. We managed to have a bit of a laugh even though there was such sadness at times. My friend is still waiting to have her investigations. Today was busy and in our part of the ward, sad, and this'll now be left a bit later. I'll be seeing her soon anyway but I'm still glad we had the extra day to chat.

I'm tired this evening. I was going out but I'm glad I was too late in the end to go because I'm a very, very sleepy lemuure. Wide awake at four but very tired by eight. In hospital we'd still be chatting at eight but we have lots of bed rest because we weren't allowed to do anything else. So after all these weeks of not being able to do much .........

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

LALA

Yes, I'm still here at the hospital but tomorrow I'm outta here. I guess being a day or so late shouldn't really be too much of a surprize.

LALA. Lemuures are late always or at least this one seems to be.

I'm actually quite pleased to be late this time as a friend is having something done here tomorrow and I'll be here for part of the day.

Muure and muure pills

There have been more pills but I have also had steroid drips. These are like the pillies but they are in liquid form and come in plastic bags and bottles. The bottles are quite hard as I discovered on my last visit here but the bags much softer.
I had two of these drips because they wanted me to have large doses of the steroids. The last time I had the drips it was fer water so I didn't become dehydrated.

How they do this is to put a candula into your hand or arm so they can attach the bag by a tube to it and all the liquid flows slowly into your veins. This time the bag, we had the soft ones this time, was attached to a mobile drip stand so if you wanted a potter around the ward you could just potter off taking the stand and drip with you.

The last stand I had was attached to the bed and I foolishly tried to take the drip bottle off the stand to go on a potter and knocked myself on the head with it. If I'd thought I'd've realised that I could've taken the brake off the bed and taken the bed and drip stand down the ward with me.

But I guess you don't always think of these things at the time. I tried to unhook the drip bottle from the stand and hit myself on the head with it.

There's also been a change in pillies. The yellow steroid sparing pillies have been replaced with a different one. This time in my favourite colour so I now have matching t shirts and pillies. These ones are much better without any of the problems that I had with the other ones.

There's also a new tummy pill to look after the tum because of all the other pillies I'm taking.

And now I think it's time fer a certain lemuure to be turning in to get somme Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzs.

Tomorrow is going 2 B a busy day cause a lemuure is leaving hospital.

Hmmm

Well, we are staying with the flourescent orange and purply pills. And I have the clear liquid and the b-i-g white pills that fizz. And a suggestion for something else that I'll be thinking about. I'll probably try this too, it's just for while my back and other illness are sorted out.

It's just temporary but it seems such a lot fer the pain but it's needed at the moment. I'm lucky not to have allergies to these pillies and very good tolerance for the purple and orange flourescent MSTs. Some lemuuries have sickness and other problems.

Another lady was started on them yesterday and she loved the colours. She wasn't sick and these pills have helped with her pain.

A change .. and then back again

Well, since writing that there was another change in medication and the purple pills and the orange pills were changed for white ones and beige ones. But only for a day and then back we went to the orange and purple ones. This was because the new pain relief gave a certain lemuure some contra indications and instead of pain relief I had tinitus, nausea and a headache. Rather different from what I was hoping for so tomorrow I'm going to see the pain relief team.

Medicating the poorly paw paws

Well, this bit of skin ain't connected to this bit of skin
And - that bit of skin ain't connected to that bit of skin

And that's what it's all about!

Though the poorly paw paws are a lot better they can still be a bit on the painful side. The rest continues to improve slowly too. This is because I'm on the slowly improving medication rather than being given heaps 'n' heaps of steroids.

I was taken off some pills and put on others which are in my favourite colour, pale grape - so, now I have matching t shirts and tablets.

What else has changed?

Well, I've more of the pain relief to help me through this painful time. The MST comes in purple and an orange pills. Very colourful. They're made by the same people who make the raspberry flavoured granules I think.

It's getting late here so I think a certain lemuure better say good night and turn in.

Knut, Gollam and Botok

I have been watching all the controversey in Germany for the little polar bear, Knut.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/6470509.stm

An animal rights person had suggested that little Knut wouldn't be happy and able to thrive after his mother rejected him after he'd been born. Some animal rights activists, some of the more extreme ones, don't like the thought of animals as pets and I don't know if this thinking was influenced along those lines. And while I wouldn't really want a polar bear, sorry Knut but u grow to be v..e..r..y big, as a pet I don't see why little Knut shouldn't have his fun with the footballs and loo brushes (see photos in BBC article) just like other polar bear cubs.

Better that than what we sadly hear out in the wilds maybe where the polar bears are starting to be affected by global warming melting their ice and snow.

Knut is a polar bear and polar bears like the solitary life on the whole. I expect he'll be found a nice place to live that suits polars who aren't in the wild.

In Scotland there was a similar story though there was no question of little Gollam not being allowed to stay on.

with his fluffy toy.

I have a film to watch, much the same, this time in South Mongolia. This time it is about a rejected camel. The film is called The Story Of The Weeping Camel.

River birds

A certain lemuure has pottered the walks up to Sainsburys and Tescos this week and not felt too bad for it. It would be nice to walk along the canal and watch the ducks and barges go by on the way to Sainsburys but dusk still falls early and there's no lighting along the canal bank. Still it's a nice walk along the road because the trees that line that side of the canal line the road as well. And, anyway, I think the ducks won't be on the water. I think the sun might be their clock though I'm not sure and they'll be thinking of turning in as it gets dark.

I think you could walk along the canal to Tesco too as you cross it as you walk over to the store. That's quite a nice walk too though I've always walked up by road when I've gone there and don't know if there's a walk along the bank from here to the store.

I haven't seen any moorhens or coots on the canal though I guess there must be some. I'm used to seeing moorhens and coots in the parks. Brockwell park has ducks, moorhens and coots. I expect there are the same birds around here just that I haven't seen them.
